Join Scouts

As an Adult Volunteer

Leander runs entirely on the energy and enthusiasm of our amazing volunteers – and we’d love for you to join the crew!

Whether you’re a seasoned sailor, a natural with young people, or just keen to try something new, there’s a place for you here. No prior experience in Scouting, Guiding, or boating is needed – just a willingness to get stuck in and have fun!

We provide full training, all the equipment and uniform you’ll need, and we’ll cover any expenses. If you’re ready to make a difference and be part of something rewarding, drop us a line at
📧 volunteer@leander.org.uk

As a Young Person

We believe every young person deserves the chance to experience the adventure of Sea Scouting – and we’re proud to offer that opportunity to our local community.

We welcome applications from young people aged 5 to 17, though please note that our youngest section, Beavers, starts at age 6. Due to high demand, we do operate a waiting list, but don’t worry – you might not have to wait long!

To apply, simply fill out our Joining Enquiry Form.
Please complete a separate form for each child, and make sure to add
joining@leander.org.uk to your safe sender list so you don’t miss our reply.

How Places Are Allocated

We aim to be fair and transparent. Priority is given to:

  • Siblings of current members
  • Children of current leaders or regular volunteers
  • Young people recently moved to the area who were active in another Scout Group

Remaining places are allocated by random ballot each term, in line with our admissions policy.

What to Expect

Leander is a uniformed, membership-based organisation, and we ask all members to commit to:

  • Regular weekly attendance
  • Occasional weekend activities throughout the year

Subscriptions are currently £18 per month, payable by standing order.

If cost is a concern, please don’t worry – we’re committed to making Scouting accessible to all and can offer reduced subscriptions for families in financial hardship.
